Practice
Answer questions written from your project, one at a time, and get feedback on each answer.
Practice is a quiz that doesn’t run out. Study writes one question at a time from a project’s sources, you answer it, and Study grades the answer and tells you why. Each project has one practice of its own.
Starting
Open Practice in the sidebar and pick a project, or choose Take the quiz on a project’s page. If nothing is due on Home, its today card also points you here.
Questions are written on your ChatGPT plan from the project’s read sources. Each new question avoids the ones you’ve already had. If a project has no notes yet and none of its files has been read, Study says There’s nothing to ask about yet instead of making something up. Add some, then try again.
Two kinds of question
- Multiple choice gives you a few options. Select one, or press its letter or number.
- In your own words asks for a written answer. Type it and choose Submit, or press Enter. Shift and Enter starts a new line.
Feedback
Each answer gets one of three verdicts: Correct, Partly correct or Not quite. The feedback says what you got right, what was wrong or missing, and why, next to Your answer and the Right answer.
The grader sees only that question, its reference answer and the passages the question cites. It doesn’t look at the rest of your files, so it grades the answer against what the question asked. The question’s Sources let you open those passages yourself.
When you’ve missed something, Add to my flashcards turns the question into a flashcard, so it comes back in your reviews.
Then choose Next question, or press Enter or Space, to move on.
Results
Results lists the questions you’ve answered, with what was right and why. Delete practice removes a project’s practice, with every answer and grade in it.
Practice and flashcards
The two work well together. Flashcards help you recall facts on a schedule; practice asks you to apply and explain them. A useful habit is to review the cards that are due, then answer a few questions, and send the ones you miss to your flashcards.
